The Chief: Sid

My name is Sid. I am an experienced software engineer and have added Radio Broadcasting to my skillset! I put in an almost 30 year career in software development before deciding to switch gears for awhile to another of my passions.

I just graduated in May 2023 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Media Studies: Radio at Iowa Western Community College. Need some hosting or production work done? Get at me!

Music

I have a passion for music that I’m pretty sure I was born with, but started to bloom as early as 4 years old listening to the radio with my parents like alot of other kids. I can’t just listen to music. I am driven to research the history of the artists I love, to find out more about how their music came to be, and to learn some of their songs myself.

I play multiple instruments. I started on drums and have gotten pretty good. Currently my main area of focus is guitar. I am looking for a great guitar teacher in the Omaha area — an old school teacher…. do you know any? I am also looking to start a Southern Rock type blues-based band. Interested? Let’s talk!

Radio/Audio Interests

I am a radio nerd and have a huge collection of old radio programs dating from the beginning of radio to today. In addition to being a Radio Nerd, I am an overall audio nerd in general. I have studied audio signal processing and am working on a plugin to use in voicing and processing my podcasts and radio programs that I develop. I also like to go field recording to captures sounds also for the podcast and programs. And, I also love to straight up synthesize sounds using tools like ChucK, which will also find their way into my productions at some point.

IWCC

I enjoyed my time at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA. I will be adding more stuff from my time there as I go along, but let me just say not only did I get to be on-air on a live radio station, but I made some great friends for life along the way!
